Artists are unique beings. Artists have a distinct way of expressing their imagination. During the development stage, much of aspiring artists are forced to undergo rigorous training and harsh criticism under experienced and sometimes well-established artists. Most budding artists thus follow styles resembling their mentors or teachers with little tweaks here and there. Nothing wrong with that. However, it will be much more beneficial for the artistic world if we allow budding talents to develop with the originality and authenticity they can offer. For that to happen, mentoring artists must encourage out-of-box thinking and practices away from conventional ways.
An artist’s identity is in their uniqueness of expression.
